About CampusTrade

CampusTrade is a dedicated peer-to-peer campus marketplace designed to solve one of the most persistent and frustrating inefficiencies in collegiate life: the unnecessary cycle of student waste and inflated academic expenses.

The Campus Dilemma

At the conclusion of every academic semester, graduating seniors and transitioning students find themselves in possession of valuable, perfectly functional equipment—from scientific calculators and engineering mini-drafters to lab aprons, electric kettles, and hostel cookware. Traditionally, these items are either abandoned in hostel rooms, sold to scrap dealers for negligible returns, or discarded. Meanwhile, incoming juniors arrive on campus faced with steep retail prices for the exact same mandatory academic tools and daily living necessities.

The Campus-Centric Exchange Model

CampusTrade establishes a localized, hyper-efficient circular economy within the campus perimeter. By limiting and focusing exchanges within verified college environments, students can safely connect with peers who share the same campus grounds, class schedules, and hostel blocks.

How the Platform Works

  • Listing Items: Registered students can post ads in minutes by uploading photos, detailing condition, setting transparent prices in INR, and designating a convenient on-campus pickup location.
  • Discovering Equipment: Buyers browse by category, filter by price, condition, or campus, and find trusted equipment within walking distance.
  • Direct WhatsApp Routing: When an item sparks interest, clicking the WhatsApp button generates an instant, pre-formatted message directly to the seller. Discussions, inspections, and price negotiations happen naturally and privately on WhatsApp.

Responsible Marketplace Use & Moderation

Integrity is paramount. CampusTrade provides active administrative moderation, listing verification, user reputation tracking, and community reporting tools. Listings promoting prohibited items, academic dishonesty material, or fraudulent claims are promptly reviewed and suspended.

Limits of Platform Scope

CampusTrade functions strictly as an information discovery and connection directory. The platform does not process financial transactions, escrow payments, or transport goods. All exchanges, physical handovers, and cash or UPI payments occur independently between the student buyer and seller after mutual inspection.
